Psychology in the Schools, 2025

Despite the growing prevalence of mindfulness in schools, the empirical landscape describing best practices for implementation is incomplete. The purpose of this project was to develop a framework that explicated the steps and considerations for implementing mindfulness at the whole‐school level, rather than just considering individual classroom programs or practices. The Whole School Mindfulness (WSM) conceptual framework was developed using a consensus‐building approach with 39 expert educators, researchers, program developers, and practitioners with unique perspectives on what is needed to implement and sustain mindfulness successfully in schools.

Empty School Desks And Chairs

Prevention Science, 2025

School-based mindfulness programs (SBMPs) have shown a range of academic, emotional, and behavioral outcomes. However, heterogeneity in curricular content obscures accurate interpretation of results. To unpack the “black box” of SBMPs and better contextualize intervention outcomes, this investigation examined the practices, skills, and knowledge conveyed in twelve curricula. Required curricular elements (CEs) from the written curricula were coded for mindfulness practices and skills, and lessons were coded for mindfulness knowledge conveyed.

Business Meeting

Educational Management, Administration & Leadership, 2025

The purpose of this mixed-methods research is to understand leader stressors, the impacts of stress, self-care strategies used to mitigate stress, and gender-related differences. Leaders reported high levels of role-related stress from external pressures, responsibilities related to managing others, interactions with families, and job-related concerns. Impacts of this stress were multifaceted and found to spill over to home.

Dollar Bill in Jar

Journal of School Psychology, 2025

Although school-based mindfulness programs are increasing, contextual issues that facilitate or hinder program implementation are poorly understood. Utilizing an implementation science framework, Promoting Action on Research in Health Services, as a heuristic for data collection and analysis, we used an exploratory sequential mixed methods design to investigate implementation barriers and facilitators of the Peace of Mind (PoM) program.
